TOURNAMENT RULES
- Tournament Format: The Custom Shootout is an “Honor-System” format governed by the rules set forth by the Tournament Committee. The format is intended to generate team strategy, sportsmanship, and fun for all.
- Anglers: Up to 4 anglers permitted/boat. All anglers must be registered prior to the
start of the Tournament.
- Fishing
Days: Thursday – May 13th, Friday – May 14th, and Saturday – May 15th. All boats must register at marina on or before May 12th.
- Fishing Hours:Boats may leave the marina as early as desired. Boats must check in the marina each evening. Fishing hours per schedule at registration.
- Fishing Boundaries: A 50 mile radius from Valentines Marina. Use your GPS numbers at the dock to abide.
- IGFA Rules (2009 edition) apply.
- NO WIRE LINES.
- NO ELECTRIC REELS (except teaser reels).
- Live Bait is permitted.
- Kites are permitted. (with elec. reels)
- Maximum of 6 lines (with hooks) are permitted per boat at any one time.
- All billfish must be called in to the committee boat upon hook-up and release (or loss of fish).
- Digital photos or video verification of each billfish released is required. The photos or video must clearly identify the species of the billfish, record the official release and be turned in to the tournament director at the end of each fishing day.
- SCORING:
- Blue Marlin release = 300 points
- White Marlin release = 150 points
- Sailfish release = 50 points
- BONUS SCORING: “Shootout Grand Slam” (Blue, White, Sailfish, released during the 3 days of fishing) = 500 bonus points
- Protests: The Custom Shootout is an honor system tournament. Each boat is
responsible for his/her performance. Any person witnessing rule violations should enter a protest in writing to the Tournament Committee no later than 6 P.M. the day
of the alleged violation. Tournament Committee decision shall be final.
